Truncal veins reflux treatment , also known as Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) is a new technique for the treatment of varicose veins. It treats the vein directly without the need to remove it, using a laser fibre inserted directly into the vein(s).
VenaSeal™ offers relief for patients suffering from chronic venous insufficiency by using a proprietary medical adhesive to permanently close the diseased vein.
Laser therapy involves having a catheter inserted into your vein and using an ultrasound scan to guide it into the correct position.
We then pass a tiny laser through the catheter and position it at the top of your varicose vein.
The laser delivers short bursts of energy that heat the vein and seal it closed.
We then slowly pull the laser along the vein using ultrasound scanning to guide it, allowing the entire length of the vein to be closed.
It involves a direct injection of a medication into the veins. The medication causes the lining of the vein to swell, eventually sealing off the vein, and preventing high-pressure from getting in the vein.
The vein hardens and is absorbed by the body over the course of 8 to 10 weeks, much like a bruise.
We adjust the strength of the medication depending on the size of the vein.
We use ultrasound to guide the direct injection of foam sclerotherapy into the targeted vein. The foam scars the veins, which seals them closed.
Micro-Phlebectomy, also known as ambulatory phlebectomy, is a minor surgical procedure that allows for the removal of large surface varicose veins through very small incisions that do not require stitches. We perform the procedure under local anaesthetic.
They are also required to aid in the healing process following vein treatment procedures.
We will need to determine the strength of the stockings to control your symptoms at the consultation.
